Paper picture frames can be purchased in many quality insulation products stores or paper shops. You can also get great finds in Amazon, Kmart, Adorama, and DTY Direct.
You need to create a reasonable timeline for the project. Ask people who have already renovated, call some contractors, or go online and do some research on how long your type of project takes.
Measure in from the edge of the door whatever the "setback" is on the existing knob. The setback is the distance from the edge of the door to the centerline of the door knob or deadbolt. This is usually 2 3/4". Older doors can be 2 3/8". Carry the line across to the edge of the door and mark a line across the edge. Start drilling your 2 1/8" hole with the hole saw going slowly to begin. If you have a metal door, you may want to drill a pilot hole first and drill at a slower speed when making the 2 1/8" hole.
Potholes: You can fill these with cold patching material, basically blacktop mix sold in a sack (like cement). You should be able to buy it at any home center, constractors supplies outlet or hardware store such as Lowe's or Ace Hardware.

Use a day off or a play date as a reward for completing a part of the project. For example, take a day trip after you have finished the drywall, or go see a movie after you complete the Bathroom floor tile. Pick something you will both enjoying doing as a reward, and don't spend the time talking about the renovation. Just relax and have fun together.
